Referrals and Free Months

Your Referrals dashboard shows one code, four figures and a list of everyone you have invited. This guide explains what moves each of them, and what has to happen before a reward is credited.

Your Code and Where It Lives

The dashboard sits under Account, then Subscription, then Referrals. If you are working in a professional view it sits under Billing instead, and both surfaces read the same code. The public Refer a Friend page is the signed-out entrance to it: signing in takes you straight to the dashboard rather than showing you a second code.

  • One code covers everything: the same code works whether you are introducing a friend, a client, a colleague or a professional, so there is nothing to switch between
  • Share the link as it stands: the code travels inside the link, so shortening or rewriting the address can quietly cost you the credit for the introduction
  • Copy and share are both offered: a copy button sits beside the code, alongside ready-made messages for email and the usual messaging apps

Inviting Someone

There are two routes, and they end in the same place. Sharing the link leaves the other person to apply the code when they sign up. Inviting by email records the introduction on your side first, so it appears in Sent Referrals before they have done anything.

An invite is not a reward yet

An emailed invitation creates a referral in the Pending state. It becomes worth something only when the person you invited signs up and reaches a paid plan, so a long list of invitations on its own does not move the Months Earned figure.

What the Four Figures and the Statuses Mean

The figures at the top

  • Total Referrals: every introduction you have made, whatever became of it
  • Completed: the ones that reached a paid plan and earned a reward
  • Pending: the ones still inside their window, waiting on the other person
  • Months Earned: the free subscription months credited to you so far

The status on each row

  • Pending: recorded and still live. It stays that way until the qualifying event happens or the window closes
  • Completed: the person you introduced took a paid plan, and the reward has been applied
  • Expired: the window closed before they subscribed. Nothing is lost beyond that one introduction, and you can invite them again
  • Refunded: their qualifying payment was refunded in full or lost to a chargeback, so the reward was withdrawn. A partial refund leaves the reward in place

Why a professional referral takes longer

A solicitor, will writer or adviser has to be verified before they can subscribe, so the introduction can sit at Pending well after they have signed up. That is why professional referrals are given a longer window than consumer ones. The dashboard states the window that applies rather than fixing it in this article.

How Rewards Are Paid

Rewards are credited as free subscription months, with no cash equivalent. If you already pay for a plan, a completed referral is applied to your subscription without anything further from you. If you have no paid plan, the dashboard shows a claim button instead: claim within the time it shows, and the claim starts a subscription whose free months come first, with billing once they end.

  • The figures live on the page, not here: how many months an introduction earns you, and how many the person you introduced receives, are shown on the dashboard and on the Refer a Friend page. They differ by the kind of introduction, so this article does not repeat them
  • Rewards stack: each completed referral adds to the total rather than replacing it
  • Fair use applies: once your completed introductions reach the cap for a rolling window, you cannot start new referrals until older ones fall outside it. The cap is shown on the programme page and on your dashboard

The wider programme, including how the four kinds of introduction differ and the terms that govern them, is covered in the Partner Programme article (opens in a new tab).
