Partnering With Us
The Charity Partnership puts your registered charity where supporters choose the causes they want to remember. This is what it includes, what it costs, and how to get listed.
What the Charity Partnership Is
The Charity Partnership is our listing arrangement for registered charities. It gives your charity a verified profile, a place in the public charity directory, and a way to keep supporters up to date with your work. Someone writing their will can then find your charity by name, by location or by the kind of work it does, and name it in the gifts section of their will.
Who can apply
Any registered charity. We confirm your registration details before your profile goes live, which is what the verified badge on your directory entry refers to.
What a Listing Gives You
- A verified charity profile: your mission, the areas you work in, your public contact details and your latest news, presented as a page of your own rather than a line in a list
- A place in the charity directory: supporters browse and search the directory when they reach the gifts step of their will, so your entry is in front of them at the point they are deciding
- A channel for supporter updates: text and image updates you publish yourself, so people considering a gift can see what your charity is doing now
What we do not do
We do not advise supporters on which charities to choose, and we do not offer legacy giving or tax guidance to you or to them. Anyone with a question about the effect of a gift in their will should speak to a qualified professional.
What It Costs
The Charity Partnership is free. There is no annual fee for being listed, no fee for the directory entry, and no charge tied to gifts named through the platform.
Optional Add-Ons
One thing sits outside the free listing: extra storage beyond your included allowance. Video uploads are included and count towards that storage. Extra storage is charged at our supplier cost with no mark-up, and is not needed to hold a listing. Nothing is added to your account without you choosing it.
From Application to Live Listing
- Apply or claim: start a new application, or claim an existing directory entry if your charity is already listed. Claiming is the right route when the entry exists but nobody from your charity controls it
- Build your profile: once you have access to the portal you fill in your mission and focus areas, add your offices, invite colleagues and publish your first updates
- Appear in the directory: after we have confirmed your registration and approved the listing, your profile is published and supporters can include your charity in their will
How long approval takes
We do not publish a fixed turnaround, because verification depends on the register your charity sits on and on how quickly we can confirm the details you gave us. We keep you updated on progress while it is with us.
What the Portal Gives You Afterwards
Approval is the beginning rather than the end. The charity portal is where your listing is maintained, and each part of it has its own guide.
- Profile: the descriptive content behind your directory entry and your public page (profile guide (opens in a new tab))
- Offices: the addresses and contact points you want published, each of which can be marked active or inactive (offices guide (opens in a new tab))
- Team: colleagues invited into your charity workspace, each with a role that decides what they can change (team guide (opens in a new tab))
- Updates: the news, impact stories and thank yous you publish to supporters (updates guide (opens in a new tab))
- Documents: a private space for your charity's own files, kept to your team
Start with the portal primer
If you have just been given access, the Charity Portal getting started guide (opens in a new tab) walks through the console in the order you will actually use it.
