Connecting Nextcloud

Connect your own Nextcloud with its address and an app password.

Steps

You give us your provider’s CalDAV details and a password made just for this connection. Two-way sync works the same as signing in.

  1. In Nextcloud, open Personal settings, then the Security tab
  2. At the bottom of the list of connected browsers and devices, enter a name and select Create new app password, then copy it
  3. Open Calendar, then Calendar Integrations from the settings menu
  4. Under Connect a Calendar, select Connect on Nextcloud
  5. Enter your Nextcloud address (for example cloud.example.com, without https:// or any path), your Nextcloud username and the app password, then select Connect

Good to know

  • Your Nextcloud address is the part of the web address you sign in at, before the first slash

What We Can and Cannot See

We can see:

  • Events in the calendars on that account, so your appointments show in one place and bookings avoid times you are busy
  • If you turn on outbound or two-way sync, we add the appointments, will milestones and video wishes you choose in your sync settings

We cannot see:

  • Your email, contacts or files: a CalDAV connection reaches calendars only
  • Your password in plain form: we keep the password you give us encrypted and use it only for this connection

How to Disconnect

  1. Open Calendar, then Calendar Integrations from the settings menu
  2. Select Disconnect on the connected calendar. We remove the events we added to it where the server still allows, and delete the password we kept
  3. If you created an app password for us, delete it at your provider too

Troubleshooting

  • If the connection cannot reach your server, check the address opens in a browser from outside your home or office network. A Nextcloud reachable only on a private network cannot be connected
