Connecting Fastmail

Uses a Fastmail app password with calendar access.

Steps

You give us your provider’s CalDAV details and a password made just for this connection. Two-way sync works the same as signing in.

  1. In Fastmail, open Settings, then Privacy & Security, then Connected apps & API tokens, and select Manage app passwords and access
  2. Select New app password, keep an access option that includes calendars (such as Mail, Contacts & Calendars), and copy the password
  3. Open Calendar, then Calendar Integrations from the settings menu
  4. Under Connect a Calendar, select Connect on Fastmail
  5. Enter your Fastmail email address and the app password, then select Connect

What We Can and Cannot See

We can see:

  • Events in the calendars on that account, so your appointments show in one place and bookings avoid times you are busy
  • If you turn on outbound or two-way sync, we add the appointments, will milestones and video wishes you choose in your sync settings

We cannot see:

  • Your email, contacts or files: a CalDAV connection reaches calendars only
  • Your password in plain form: we keep the password you give us encrypted and use it only for this connection

How to Disconnect

  1. Open Calendar, then Calendar Integrations from the settings menu
  2. Select Disconnect on the connected calendar. We remove the events we added to it where the server still allows, and delete the password we kept
  3. If you created an app password for us, delete it at your provider too

Troubleshooting

  • If the connection is refused, check the app password was created with calendar access
