Understanding Multiple Professional Types
It’s common for legal professionals to hold more than one qualification in the same jurisdiction. For example, you might be both a Solicitor and a Notary Public in England & Wales.
Our application supports as many qualifications per jurisdiction as you hold, ensuring your full range of professional types is represented in our directory. Each one is recorded separately, with its own regulatory body and licence number.
Common Combinations
England & Wales
- Solicitor + Notary Public
- Solicitor + Licensed Conveyancer
- Solicitor + Trust & Estate Practitioner (TEP)
Scotland
- Solicitor + Notary Public
- Advocate + Solicitor
Ireland
- Solicitor + Notary Public
- Solicitor + Tax Adviser
How to Add Multiple Professional Types
In the Jurisdictions section of your application, each jurisdiction has a "Which qualifications do you hold in this jurisdiction?" list. Add one row per qualification: a solicitor-notary in England & Wales fills two rows.
Each row asks for its own professional type, regulatory body and licence number, so the details never get mixed up between qualifications. If a qualification is unregulated, tick that instead and no regulator is needed. You can only add each professional type once per jurisdiction.
Verification Note
Each qualification is verified separately. For every regulated row you will need either a qualification certificate to upload or a link to your entry on the regulator’s public register, as our team checks each one with the appropriate regulatory body.
Different Types in Different Jurisdictions
If you hold different qualifications in different jurisdictions, you can specify professional types independently for each one.
Example: Multi-Jurisdiction Professional
England & Wales: Solicitor, Notary Public
Malta: Advocate
Ireland: Solicitor
This flexibility allows you to accurately represent your qualifications across all the jurisdictions where you practise.
