What is the Portfolio Health Score?
The Portfolio Health Score is a comprehensive risk assessment tool that evaluates your portfolio across 5 key factors, each weighted by importance. It provides a single score from 0 to 100 that indicates how well your portfolio is diversified and managed from a risk perspective.
The Portfolio Health Score is available on Gold plans and above.
Factor Weights (Total: 100 points)
- Data Completeness: 30 points - How many of your assets have a value recorded
- Asset Diversification: 25 points - How widely your assets spread across categories
- Geographic Spread: 15 points - How many countries your assets are held in
- Currency Diversification: 15 points - How many currencies your assets are held in
- Liability Management: 15 points - Your debt relative to your assets

Health Score Factors
Data Completeness
Measures what share of your assets have a value assigned. Complete data enables accurate portfolio analysis.
Asset Diversification
Combines how many asset categories you hold (breadth, 15 points) with how concentrated your largest category is (balance, 10 points). Holding assets across many categories is the main driver of this score.
Geographic Spread
Evaluates your exposure to different countries. Holding assets in more than one country reduces reliance on any single economy.
Currency Diversification
Measures your exposure to different currencies. Holding more than one currency reduces reliance on any single exchange rate.
Liability Management
Measures your total liabilities as a percentage of your total assets. A lower debt-to-asset ratio indicates better financial stability.
How to Improve Your Score
Strategies for Each Factor
- Data Completeness (30 pts): Add values to all your assets. Even estimates help create a more accurate picture of your portfolio.
- Asset Diversification (25 pts): Add assets across multiple categories (financial accounts, property, investments, digital assets). Holding 6 or more categories earns full breadth points. Concentration in one category is noted but doesn’t heavily penalise your score, because in estate planning you often can’t rebalance assets like a stock portfolio.
- Geographic Spread (15 pts): Add international investments or global funds to reduce country-specific risks. Each additional country improves your score until the factor is full.
- Currency Diversification (15 pts): Consider investments in different currencies or currency-hedged funds to protect against foreign exchange volatility.
- Liability Management (15 pts): Focus on reducing debt relative to your assets. Pay down high-interest debt first and avoid overleveraging.
Common Improvement Scenarios
- Low Completeness: Many assets without values? Add estimates to improve this factor significantly (worth up to 30 points).
- Real Estate Heavy: If most of your wealth is in property, adding financial accounts or investments will improve your breadth score. Your property concentration is noted but won’t heavily penalise you.
- Single Country Focus: UK-only portfolios miss international growth opportunities. Consider global funds or foreign property.
- High Debt Ratio: Consider debt consolidation or increased mortgage payments to bring your debt down relative to your assets.
- Single Currency: GBP-only portfolios face exchange rate risk. Add USD or EUR-denominated investments for protection.
