FlyDubai Suspends Israel Flights After Mid-Air Attack

FlyDubai Suspends Israel Flights After Mid-Air Attack A global selloff in bonds gathered pace and oil renewed its climb, countering an advance in the artificial-intelligence trade. Micron gave an upbeat forecast for the current quarter, fueled by the AI building frenzy, though the chipmaker warned that rising compensation would weigh on profit margins. France’s government is set to unveil plans to narrow the budget deficit sharply, kicking off a debate that risks toppling the prime minister and stoking investor concern over the country’s debts. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said it was too early to say whether the attacker onboard the FlyDubai plane had links to Iran. The pilot of a jet carrying more than 170 passengers to Tel Aviv stabbed his colleague and tried to crash the plane yesterday. Catastrophe was narrowly avoided after passengers and members of the crew stormed the cockpit of the plane that had taken off in Dubai and managed to stabilize the jet. FlyDubai has suspended flights to and from Israel.

Fixer, financier, spymaster: how the UAE’s Sheikh Tahnoon is setting his sights on AI dominance

Bonds

The Emirati royal is increasingly influential on the world stage. Some see him as a visionary. Others compare him to a Bond villain. Who is he? On the night of 12 November 1993, a slim, young Brazilian named Royce Gracie stepped into an octagonal cage in Denver, Colorado, and found himself staring up into the eyes of a giant. The fight lasted barely 100 seconds. In that time, Gracie calmly tripped Gordeau up, jumped on his back, and clutched at his throat, forcing the big man to hammer the floor in submission. Former IG, Citi and Stater Executive Ramy Soliman Launches Stablecoin Startup

Bonds

Ramy Soliman, the former chief executive of prime-of-prime broker Stater Global Markets, has co-founded a startup built to send stablecoin payments to basic mobile phones. He announced the Abu Dhabi venture, Saleem, in a LinkedIn post today (Monday). Saleem wants aid agencies, ministries, employers and banks to pay people from their treasuries straight to the phone they already own, with or without a bank account. It is registered in Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) as 5 Lanes Limited, and Soliman runs it with co-founder Faris Sibai. The target is money that still moves over bank rails. Pakistan, which ended its seven-year crypto banking ban in April , receives about $40 billion in remittances a year. Cutting transfer costs by one percentage point would save about $400 million annually, the chairman of its virtual assets regulator said in August. From Prime Brokerage to Stablecoins Soliman spent five years each at IG and Citi in sales roles before taking the helm of Stater as it launched in London in 2016 .
