Professional Will Review

How selecting and working with a legal professional works

Last reviewed

How it works

  1. Browse and select a professionalAfter reviewing your AI-assisted draft, you can browse verified legal professionals filtered by jurisdiction, practice area, and price. Select one that suits your needs.
  2. Confirm your choiceReview the professional’s details, pricing, and jurisdiction coverage. A summary of your circumstances (age group, location, family situation) goes to them so they can prepare and quote. Your personal details and draft will stay with you at this stage, and no payment is taken.
  3. The professional reaches outThe professional receives your request and will contact you via the messaging system. They may ask clarifying questions or provide a quote for their services.
  4. Agree and payOnce you and the professional agree on the scope and fee, they send you an invoice for the engagement, which you pay via our secure checkout.
  5. Professional reviews your willThe professional formally reviews and, if needed, revises your will, checking it for completeness and against the formal requirements of your jurisdiction.

Payment and pricing

When are you charged?

You are not charged when you select a professional. Payment is taken against an invoice the professional sends on your engagement, so you will always see the exact amount before you pay.

Pricing models

Professionals may offer different pricing structures:

  • Fixed fee: a set price shown upfront before you confirm
  • Quote-based: the professional reviews your request and provides a tailored quote

Communication

How will the professional contact me?

All communication happens through the messaging system on Orchard72. You'll receive a notification when the professional sends you a message. You can reply at any time from your dashboard.

What if I change my mind?

Before payment, you can cancel your request at any time with no obligation. You can then choose a different professional from the directory. Review by an independent professional is required before finalisation, so you will need to select one to complete your will.

Privacy and shared information

What information is shared, and when?

Sharing happens in two stages. When you select a professional, they receive a summary of your circumstances: your age group, location, family situation, and will type. That is enough for them to judge the work and quote for it. Your name, contact details, asset values, identity documents, and draft will are not included.

The second stage is yours to trigger. Once you sign that professional’s engagement letter, your full will file is released to them, including your personal details, your asset values, and your draft will. If you never sign, they never receive it.

The summary is what lets a professional quote accurately, so it goes with every selection. Nothing beyond it reaches them until you sign their engagement letter.

Frequently asked questions

Is professional review required for every will?

Yes. Every will on Orchard72 is reviewed by an independent qualified will writer or solicitor of your choice before it can be finalised. This applies to all jurisdictions and all complexity levels.

Can I finalise a will without a professional?

No. To protect you and to help make sure your will is valid in your jurisdiction, professional review is part of every finalisation. Selecting a reviewer from the directory is a required step before your will can be issued.

Why is review mandatory?

Validity rules differ across jurisdictions, and small drafting errors can make a will partially or wholly unenforceable. A qualified professional helps make sure your will reflects your wishes and meets the formal requirements of your jurisdiction.

What does review cost?

Fees are set by the independent professionals in our directory and shown before you engage them. You choose your professional based on price, expertise and language.

I'm a qualified legal professional: can I review my own will?

No. Independence is a platform requirement. Create your own will in your personal account exactly like any other user. When you reach Step 12, select an independent reviewer from our directory, typically a colleague at your own firm, or another independent qualified professional you trust. The requirement applies to everyone, so that every will on the platform has been reviewed by someone other than the person who wrote it.

I started a will earlier when review was optional: what now?

Existing drafts can still be completed, but finalisation now requires professional review. Your draft and existing data are preserved. When you reach Step 12, you will be asked to select a reviewer from our directory.
